Mindspace Voyager - Moons of Jupiter
The inspiration for the Moons of Jupiter came from the Voyager I and II fly-bys in the early 1980s. The pictures and data provided by those missions were fascinating. This caused me to think about the infinite expanse above, and its relationship to the infinite realm of the mind. I then began to think of the descriptions of the planets and the moons in musical terms. To try to capture the essence of a moon, let alone a planet - in a musical experience is daunting indeed, and only 5 of the many moons of Jupiter are musically described in this piece.
The songs are designed to evoke an emotional response that parallels the impressions I had when reading the data, and viewing the pictures of the moons and of their master, the Red Giant, and thinking about the feelings in such a place. I thank my Heavenly Father for his gracious gifts, and any good thing in this work comes from Him. Any mistakes, of course, are mine.
Each person will have their own experience listening to the music, and I encourage the listener to enjoy the music without time pressure and when one is relaxed and able to let emotions and pictures roam freely in the mind. After all - the ultimate 'last frontier' is not outer space but inner space, the truly limitless realm of your own “Mindspace.” |
